After publishing A Grammar of the Bedouin Dialects of the Northern Sinai Littoral: Bridging the Linguistic Gap between the Eastern and Western Arab World (Brill:2000), Rudolf de Jong completes his description of the Bedouin dialects of the Sinai Desert of Egypt by adding the present volume.

Mivel gyakran olvasok vagy nézek krimit és thrillert, ezért nagyon megörültem ennek a könyvnek, mikor felfedeztem a Sci-eszta polcon. Ha már olyan sok történetben főszerepet játszanak a pszichopaták, szerettem volna jobban megérteni a személyiség jegyeiket és gondolkodásukat meghatározó tudományos összefüggéseket.
A figyelemfelkeltő cím és borító már előirányozta számomra, hogy ezt a könyvet levegyem a Sci-eszta polcról. Nem csalódtam, és egy remek tudományos ismeretterjesztő könyvet olvashattam, amely egyszerre tartalmaz irodalmi, kulturális és tudománytörténeti adalékokat kellő arányban szórakoztatva és ismereteket átadva.
A szerző saját fotóival gazdagon illusztrált könyve nem vállalkozik kevesebbre, mint összefoglalóan bemutatni fővárosunk jelenleg még védett természeti értékeit. Kevesen tudják, de Európában nincs még egy olyan nagyváros, ahol ilyen kivételes állapotban fennmaradt a természetes élőhelyek sokasága, a flóra és a fauna páratlan gazdagsága.
A Meghökkentő tudomány sorozat gyöngyszeme. Játszva és szórakoztatóan tanít, gyerekek számára is könnyed és befogadható módon. Közben apránként minden megtudhatunk a bolygókról, kisbolygókról, napkitörésekről, és minden alap fogalomról, amit a naprendszer tartogathat. Imádtam a kérdéseket, nekem is hasonló gondolataim támadtak.
