Inclusive language remains a hot topic. Despite decades of empirical evidence and revisions of formal language use, many inclusive adaptations of English and German continue to be ignored or contested. But how to convince speakers of the importance of inclusive language? Számomra nagyon meghatározó könyv ez, mert egy olyan jövőképet vetít elénk, ami már nincs is olyan messze és nem kizárt a megvalósulása. Ajánlom mindenkinek, aki szereti Orwellt és a fiktív jövőképeket.
Itt ezt kb. el is dobom, és ismét meghajlok a szerző előtt, mivel az a ritka érzésem támadt, hogy jó volna olyan mágikus képességet birtokolni, amit Hobb leír. Az Ösztönre gondolok. Egy olyan kapocsra, ami az ember és az állat elméjét összefűzi egy egységbe, kölcsönös tiszteleten és szereteten alapulva. Ez az ötlet pedig olyan gondolkodásmódot takar, ami az állatokhoz fűződő viszonyt egészen másképp értelmezi, nekem rendkívül szimpatikus módon, már csak önmagában ezért is szerettem ezt a regényt.
Ritkán járok utána a szerzőknek – félek csalódástól – de itt megkerestem Kathrine Arden honlapját, mivel szórakoztatott a gondolat, hogy milyen egzotikusnak érzik az amerikai szerzők az orosz folklórt. A csajnak van némi kötődése keleti szomszédainkhoz, élt Moszkvában össz-vissz szűk 2 évet. Az a tény minden esetre vicces, hogy egy fagyos, havas orosz történetet írt meg Hawaiin.
